Need help! How can I produce soft-white light with a traditional fluorescent kitchen overhead lamp?
This apartment I'm planning to move into has the old, traditional overhead rectangular lamp with fluorescent lamp rods. I asked for track lighting or anything that can produce soft-white lights.
The landlord came back with 2 new options:
1) REPLACEMENT LENS FOR CLOUD STYLE WRAP AROUND FIXTURES
2) WRAPAROUND FIXTURE 4' OAK END
They look the same! Do you think they are lying to me, or are the existing electrical wires only able to support the same type of lighting fixture? Both of those lighting fixtures were found in the "Commercial Lighting" section (ugh).
Question #2: Are there those lamp-rods I can buy that are not fluorescent and can product regular white light?
Electricity is electricity, of course you can change the fixture but it may be expensive and the landlord may not be willing to do it. No clue about the options they gave you and if the lighting is different. Maybe you could just leave the lights up there but run the whole apt off lamps - it'll seem odd but will fix the problem. Otherwise the landlord may not be willing to change out the lights.
