Would eliminating the cap on social security save it?
I mean privatization, personal accounts can only add risk to social security.
I mean, because I pay social security that money goes to poeple who are receiving it now. If I put my money into private accounts (like wall street) then how do they get their social security?
I mean even Bush has said that privatization will not help.
So social security is about 6 percent of a paycheck right? At least it is on mine. I have heard that there is a cap of around 6000 dollars though. So what if I made 10 million? I still only pay 6000 dollars?
HERE IS THE QUESTION:
If we eliminate said cap (around 6000 dollars) so that poeple who make a great deal of money still have to pay 6 percent would that be enough money to save it?
I am not an economist by any stretch. But it seems to me that if the richest americans paid anywhere near as much as the government swears they pay into the u.s. treasurey, Then they would contribute enough to save social secur
