Roughly how much is an M-1 helmet from the Second World War worth?
I bought a helmet with the following specifications at a flea market in Germany, and I'd like to know roughly what it's worth. I assume from the specifications that it was manufactured late in the war, probably 1944-45.
Helmet shell:
Swivel bale
Rear seam
Colour/texture: dark green gloss, cork texture
Manufacturer: Schlueter
Chin strap: OD, sewn on to bale, left side - 2 prong hook, right side - clip with rounded corners
Liner:
Type: high pressure with front eyelet
Suspension: OD, full leather headband with spring clips
Washers: A
Manufacturer: Capac MC
Chinstrap: removable
condition/damage/defects:
missing nape for suspension
part of leather liner chin strap missing (needs replacement leather and buckle)
minor dents in top of shell
shell paint generally very good, but with a few small cracks
minor cracks and scratches on liner paint
barely readable names and numbers written on sweatband

Try selling it on Ebay, look it up there? Or maybe you could call a museum that wants that kind of stuff and ask what they'd pay you for it?
