I have been switching price tags to get a better deal on clothing and caught on tape. I have also been stealing small things from cosmetics and got caught on tape as well. Today they led me into the backroom (Macy's - Clackamas, Oregon) and questioned me. I confessed to it and signed some papers. An officier arrived and gave me a citation for "Theft II". I'm scheduled to appear in court a month from today.
I'm awfully ashamed of my act, and this is my very first time, I have a clean record. I go to a university and I'm so scared that this will ruin my future.
What should I do? Is there a chance that I will go to jail? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
For a first offense you will probably get probation and a fine.
However you may not be allowed to continue studying at the University.
