What thickness is required for a stainless steel counter top?
I'm making a stainless steel counter top for a homemade bar. With plywood base underneath, what thickness do I need for the stainless? I've read that standard stainless kitchen counter top thickness is 16 gauge, but this won't be getting nearly that much abuse. Is 20 gauge OK or is that too thin?
20 guage should be fine as long as there is plywood underneath. 16 guage is what is used in commercial kitchens where there is no plywood or other sub structure.
