Is iridium tint for sunglasses a mirror looking or chrome looking tint?
Im trying to get some oakley gascans with a mirror lens tint but all the lens say iridium tint, like black iridium, slate iridium, blue/green iridium and so on. Does the iridium coating give off a relflective tint like mirror or chrome lens, because they do not have any options for chrome or mirror, all of them just say iridium black, iridium grey, or another color, no chrome or mirror.
. The Iridium coating is just that. a lens Coating. Oakley does not refer to iridium coatings as "tint". Tint refers to the color of the lens when you look THROUGH it. The iridium coating provides the relfected "color" of the lens when others look at you when you wear it. "Iridium" is the mirrored coating on the outside of the lens.
Oakley DOES have an option for a "mirror" or "chrome" lens. There is a "chrome" iridium lens, but that is only available for a very few select models of glasses. The gascan is not one of these models.
Oakley's most relfective tint and closest to a mirrored look is Black Iridium. Since the lens is also the darkest TINT that Oakely has, it will help people to not see your eyes, as well. Many people say "black iridium" looks like a mirror.
