what kind of engineering involves visual design?
I would like to go into some sort of engineering, but there are so many different branches I'm not sure which one to take. Is there one that involves visual design as opposed to structural or internal? And if so, are there any good colleges on the Northwest coast with that type of engineering degree?
By visual design do you mean aesthetic design? And I'm not exactly sure what you mean by internal either.
If you're looking for design that incorporates a good deal of aesthetic aspects, here are some suggestions:
-Information Science - focus in Web Design
-Architecture
-Mechanical Engineering - focus in product design (sorry, you'll get structural here too)
There's not a lot of pure engineering majors that lack the technical and push the visual. I would recommend maybe focusing more on something business-oriented such as product design.
There's plenty of great engineering schools out there. The US News rankings are fairly standard to use though:
