What is a Fraternity or Sorority?

and why does it always have such names like Alpha Beta Gamma, Zeta Sigma Delta etc...always such greek names. Why? Can you please explain to me?

They are student-run organizations associated with colleges. Usually involved in parties and drinking games. They are traditionally named with three letters from the Greek alphabet, thus Sigma Phi Epsilon.

Some of these organizations induct members through hazing, which is basically a ritualistic trial you must pass, usually involving severe humiliation, or breaking laws. Examples: wearing a dress (for males) for a set period of time, or stealing a trophy from a school trophy case. There are many different ways they can induct you, some harmless, others not. I personally think that they are rather stupid. If you hear about something at your school that someone did that sound really dumb, there's a decent chance it was because of a fraternity.

Fraternities are the male version of the organizations, and Sororities are the female. So if you're a guy, you join a Fraternity.
