i'm going into high school and i can't decide whether to get a backpack or a messenger bag. my mom wants to get me a durable backpack, but when i looked through the catalog she was going to order it from, i hated all of the backpacks in it. i saw a messenger bag at old navy that i really liked
any other suggestions? the bag has to be big enough to hold all of my books and it must be practical. it has to be durable too because my mom wants it to last through all 4 years of high school. my locker won't be big enough to hold this bag so i'll be carrying it all day. do you think the bag i choose will work? i REALLY don't want to get a backpack because i can't find any that i like that are attractive. thats why i chose this one.

This decision should be based solely upon how many books you are going to have to carry. If your bag is going to tend towards the light side, go for the messanger bag. But if you have to haul a lot of books, go for the backpack. Since the messenger bag concentrates all of it's weight on one side of the body, you body has to compensate for it. If the bag is light, it's really not that big of a deal. But, if it's going to be heavy, you'll notice you'll be walking a bit crooked and your hip and shoulder will definitely start hurting.
