I just started going out with this guy and told him that I like to go hiking, which I do. But, I failed to tell him that I go in jeans and a tee-shirt, paired with walking shoes. Turns out he is a serious hiker and this guy dresses to the nines all the time. I am really nervous about what to wear and need some advice. Will yoga pants and athletic shoes work? Or, do I need to go shopping? And, what kind of top should I wear? We are just hiking in a state park in IL. It's not like there will be any mountains or hills. i think the major factor is where your going to go and the kinds of things your gonna tromp threw. if its just a hiking trail throw on a good old fashion pair of jeans or shorts and a nice but not to nice shirt. if your gonna be going off the trail pants and a long sleeve t-shirt and bring bug spray. usually what you described wearing is more than enuf. take some beef jerky or some granola bars in case the hike takes a wrong turn or you just simply make it a long day
