How can a 30ish non-goth guy blend into a goth crowd?
I photograph models and one I've become friends with invites me out all the time. I'm wishing for some advice on how to alter my style to blend in if I accept an invitation one day.
She's 21, her friends are all about the same age, they are all tattooed up with piercings and crazy hairstyles and outrageous clothing. Several are goth. A few of the younger ones are scene, which I understand is like the new goth but more emo. I'm saying all of this so someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
I'm 30ish, and dress in tailored designer jeans, leather driving shoes, tailored shirts untucked, nice belts, and my hair is short and messed up on purpose. I'm like an older, wiser frat boy. I would stand out big-time in their crowd. I've seen their party pics.
What can I wear that would blend in enough that I wouldn't look odd with them, but at the same time not look like I'm trying too hard?

Theres many kinds of gothic styles so i guess it determines what type of goth but serious what the hell? your 30! you shouldnt be thinking that you have to dress a certain way to "fit in". Your acting like a high schooler. Its all about personality.
nah scene isnt the new goth at all. Its total oposite realy almost considering they wear bright clothing often and is proof you dont have to worry. The only similarity is trying to stand out and be different from the boring society norms yet because of stupid trends it became too popular.
Just be original and yourself then its all good. ^_^ your a photographer, just look artsy and how you truely want to dress. Everyone can spot a fake easy and it might be laughable if you try too hard.
but if after all that and you still dont know.... i say just be normal and only wear what you like... but i think the guy in this video i saw(see below) has a cool way of wearing two shirts.... it looks normal to me. A white shirt with a black one on top unbuttoned partially which sounds similar enough to your current style possibly anyways. But only if you like that idea. or maybe more like the guys from She Wants Revenge ( would be suitable yet seems close enough to your style(see image below). They make darkwave which is a gothic music yet they dont look super gothic looking so clearly looks arent that important. Just wear dark colours if you like to.... i think your good as long as your not into pastell pinks and blues or whatever because i think they look dumb most the time anyways XD
oh and it would be pretty funny if you aloud your friend to give you a goth makeover hahaha XD
