2011 Porsche Cayman S maintenance help?
I am thinking about buying a 2011 Porsche Cayman S... First time buying a Porsche... I need help knowing the maintenance and all of that stuff... But first things first... Can i afford this car? I make $90,000 a year from my job and pay $2000 for my home....I have a wife with 2 kids and a family car (2011 Toyota Sienna)...Can i afford it..? Ok,back to the topic... What are the maintenance costs and tips for this car? When do i have to change the oil? When do i have to change the tires?.... All those kind of questions...
That, of course, will depend a lot on your other obligations (besides the house and kids), the down payment you make, and the interest rate you get. The cars are not cheap to keep up, but not as much as a lot of people believe. I have a 2005 911 Turbo S. My oil changes are $295 each; however, Porsche calls for them only every 15,000 miles or 1 year, whichever comes first. Over time, that's not that much more than you're paying for your Sienna.
The "N spec" tires for Porsches are expensive (around $180 each front tire and $220 each rear tire). I've found better at less money (and I mean better on the road AND better on the track). I get a set of four Kumho Ecsta SPTs delivered to my doorstep by tirerack.com for about $700.00. The cars, particularly the 911, wear rear tires about twice as fast as front ones. Plan on a set of rear tires every 8,000 to 12,000 miles (depends on your driving) and a set of fronts with every other set of rears.
Porsches are the most reliable cars built. Over fifty percent of ALL of them EVER built are still running on the road or track today. But, like anything mechanical, things do wear out and even break sometimes. A brand new car will give you a great warranty and Porsche is know for handling anything exceptional that shows up even beyond standard periods.
Keep in mind that a few years old Porsche can be had with a CPO, Certified Pre-Owned Warranty that extends the original period by two years or up to a total of 100,000 miles. If new looks a bit too much, look at recent years too.
