Does anyone have any experience with smoke proofing?
I need to create a smoke proof seal on a door in my house The door is over 1 inch thick solid wood. I would just like to create a seal around the door frame that will help reduce the aroma of smoke in the rest of the house. Any suggestions welcome.
Thanks

Well a trip down your weatherproofing aisle of your local hardware will reveal several products.
But I don't think sealing the door to the room alone will make you happy.
To really ensure that smoke doesn't escape the room and into the rest of the house, you need to put the room in a negative pressure. Basically, make the room actively pull air into it form the rest of the home to prevent the smoke form escaping.
A bath type fan could work for this application.
Here's something to chew on though. How is this room heated and cooled?
If it relies on a central air system, then you are working against the tide. The air has to move out of that room adequately to cool/heat, and your furnace will be actively pushing (and pulling) the air out of the room.
A mini-split ductless system with a heat pump option is perfect for this situation btw.
Best of luck, but I think you'll find the solution is more complicated than sealing the door.
