I'm planning on buy a pair of sunglasses but I'm not sure which ones. I wanted a pair with the best optics, or close to the best. Price point isn't too much of an issue. Most people buy it based on the looks. I want something more towards comfort cause I hate wearing glasses but my eyes hurt in the sun. I tried on some shades but I want to know how it is in the long term based on optics and comfort.

In terms of eye protection, Oakley has Maui JIm beat, hands down. Impact protection tests show that Oakley glasses come out ahead. There are a few optical clarity tests that show some Maui Jim glasses as "clearer" but the impact protection rating suffers.
Oakley glasses are the best combination of strength and clarity that you can buy.
I can only encourage you to try on as much as you can. I prefer oakley. So much so that I started collecting Oakley glasses.
If you're not a fan of the weight of the glasses, go with something from Oakely that is O-matter or something like the Nanowire 2.0 or 4.0 which is a frameless, memory metal, super duper light weight pair. Also something that is "O-matter" like the flak jacket or the jupiter. Stay away from X-metal as it's a full titanium frame. Super strong, but the heaviest of all Oakley frames. Stay away from Acetate which is plain plastic. It's pretty heavy for long term wear.
Some of the "Wire" frames are nice as well,like the plaintiff or the Crosshair 2.0, square wire, square whisker, etc.
