How can I dye 'rose-colored' scrub pants to a reddish-burgundy color?
I bought some scrub pants online, and in the description they looked to be a deep burgundy which is what I'm required to have for my nursing clinicals. When I received the pants they were actually a light rose hue! It would cost more to return them than to just keep them and they are really comfortable.
Does anyone have any idea how to dye them? Is it even possible with scrub-pants?

Sure, you should be able to dye them. You need some Rit Dye. I just checked their website: http://www.ritdye.com and they have a "Wine" color dye, which is in the burgandy color family you could purchase directly. You can check like a JoAnn Fabrics or a Walmart, but sometimes stores don't carry more then basic colors; not the full product range.
You pants current color will lighten the result, so it won't be as dark as Wine. To improve results you can un-dye them with a box of Rit color Remover, which will take out the rose, then use the wine dye. In either case: to get best results: fill your washer with hottest water possible. using a water level suited to quanitity of items. Add 1 cup salt and the dye to washer. Aggitate to mix well a minute. Add pants. Set washer to longest cycle. Pants need to be in dye bath a total of 30 minutes total, so reset timer as necessary. Be sure and add 1 cup of vinegar to the rinse dispenser, which will help set the dye. Then run in dryer. (Be sure and add bleach to your washer afterwards and run it through a rinse cycle to clean out residue.)
Since the pants are probably partially polyester, the salt really helps it take the dye. Normally dying works it's best on pure cotton.
Dyed items tend to fade gradually. Wash in cold and dry on light dryer temp or line dry to help keep the color longer.
