How to find my animal spirit/totem?

Please don't say go to local shelter.I've already been there and picked up two nice cats.In other words, if you don't believe, don't bother answering.

There are a couple of ways to find your animal totem, but the best way is through meditation. You seem pretty informed on stuff like this so I'm guessing you already know how to meditate. If you don't then I've included a link to a website that has a bunch of information on totems and spirit guides as well as tips for entering a meditative state. I certainly found it helpful when I was learning about totems... anyway the trick to entering a meditative state is that its less meditation and more of a trance. When you begin focus on relaxing and clearing your mind as you force yourself to sink deeper and deeper into a meditative state.

When you're ready (its one of those things you just kinda know) picture yourself in the middle of a small clearing in the middle of a forest. Focus on the forest. What sounds are you hearing? Do you see any movement in the trees? Are there any animals present? etc etc. Anyway, at that point, you should simply ask for your totem/ animal spirit to appear to you, and it should appear. Whatever happens after that is up to you... or your totem.

If you don't want to meditate you could always try to interpret your dreams. Try to find an animal that appears often in your dreams. Are there any dreams where you had a meaningful encounter with an animal? Ask yourself questions like that.

When you find your totem, you get this feeling like everything falls into place, like a lot of questions that you've always asked about yourself have been answered. Its a really neat experience. if you're browsing an online dictionary of animal totems and one of them catches your attention and when you start reading the description you get that feeling, then you've probably found your totem. Thats what happened to me. But, I did a meditation just to make sure.
