im a royal marine that joined at 16. 30% of us do join as boy soldier's and i have found those that do have really got an extra foothold in terms of experience and promotion through the ranks, especially those who want to go into the specific roles such as mountain leader and swimmer conninist. having asked others that have come back from tour its thoses who have started the earliest who find tour the easiest, got the most out of it and performed the best under ther pressure of being under fire, there bodies are better trained and they are more aclimatised to general marine life and so generally turn out as better marines. seriously mate joinging as soon as you can sets you up so much better, you are just so much better trained and so much more ready for the challanges that will be thrown at you. plus your more likley to be able to raise through to ranks faster and possibly end up in the sbs. trust me your gunna have two very proud parents the day you get handed that green berret. mine were in tears and honestly it was one my the proudest moments in my life for myself to know that i have got through training and earned that berret. so i would say join as soon as you can you will never look back. best of luck in whatever you chose to do man
