I saw this buddist monk on TV focus his "chi" to his hand........?
and they used an infrared camera and his hand was hot in the picture and could produce steam from a wet cloth! How does meditation help them accomplish such things? Is "chi" the same as "pran" or life force in Indian Yoga?
How rude are some people, if only they kept an open mind! They should go see one of those martial art shows of the shaolin monks and the will realise the feets they can accomplish !
There is nothing magical about chi. It's ordinary. Everyone has it. Anyone can develop her ability to increase this energy and apply it in different situations like healing or martial arts or just day to day living more energetically and healthily. Its development can make a person extremely strong in spite of an ordinary appearance. Health nuts here really use it. However its development takes discipline, hence the use of meditation and other disciplines like chi-gong, tai-chi, etc. I've lived in Asia half my life and have benefited many times from its use in the healing arts, acupuncture, and massage. Every morning I go for a walk and see all ages, shapes, and sizes exercising, meditating, and building up their chi. Along with gossiping, strengthening the chi is a national pastime. Any complaints about your health and you'll get a good lecture on taking care of your chi.
