What size American Apparel UNISEX shirt should I get?

Okay... so I don't like my shirts tight, I like them with some room
in them, I don't know whether I should get a small or xs.

I'm a small in clothes, but sometimes I order a medium
for it to be a little bit spacey, but not too spacey.
It really depends on the style of the shirt, & the way they are fitted.

I don't know what size to get since they are in adult men's sizes
for the unisex fitting. So... yeah...

OH! and also...
what is the material like..
is it like really lightweight...? or just right..?
Because I bought a shirt from another store
and I could literally rip it with my hands & it could tear apart.

xs. it's still huge on me. it's pretty good material. it's not lightweight.
