nerd party theme ideas?
My mom's a party planner, and she recently got this offer for planning a funny nerd party for a bunch of 7-year old geniuses, so plz help if ya can.
Nerdiness has never been more "in." Being smart is respected, as are eclectic tastes and out-of-the-norm style. Although you may celebrate the stereotype during school "nerd" days, further explore your own nerdy potential by hosting a nerd-themed party. Whether you appeal to the hidden nerd within your guests with movies, gadgets or fashion, unleashing the nerd inside can supply hours of innovative entertainment for all invited. Pick a theme then simply add nerd food like "Twinkies" and extra-caffeinated cola to provide the complete experience.
Nerd Movies
A nerdy-movie marathon is a good excuse to get together with friends.
Celebrate Nerdom by hosting films like "Trekkies," "Revenge of the Nerds" or "Napoleon Dynamite." Ask partiers to dress like favorite characters or to participate in a movie trivia challenge at the end of the films.
Feed the inner nerd by showing any of a number of nerdy favorite flicks. Films like "Lord of the Rings," "Star Wars" or "Harry Potter" appeal to the sci-fi nerds, while computer nerds may prefer movies like "War Games" or "Eagle Eye." Show a few movies to make a night of it, and provide plenty of movie candies and treats to complete the event.
Invention Party
Inspire a new creation with an Invention Challenge game.
Host a "Mad Scientist" party to challenge your nerdy friends to expand imaginations. Send out invitations with a mad scientist graphic on the front and explain that you are hosting a party where only the very smartest and nerdiest friends are invited. Once guests arrive, allow them to flex their creative muscles and participate in an invention challenge.
Provide a supply of odds and ends and challenge your nerdy guests to create a contraption or invention. Stock up on duct tape, electrical tape, nuts, bolts, rulers, tin cans, springs and whatever else you can find at your local science surplus center or hardware store. Place items in a central location and break nerds up into small groups or make it an individual competition. Give guests a time limit and then let the creativity flow. Once the timer goes off participants must introduce the invention and talk about what it should do. The more creative and outrageous the idea, the more entertaining it will be. Line appetizer dishes with dry ice and decorate with coiled springs and cogs to enhance the Nerdy Mad Scientist theme.
Nerd Makeover Party
A nerd makeover allows for clashing combinations of clothing.
Although most makeover events attempt to make participants more beautiful, your Nerd Makeover Party will seek to release the nerd within all of your guests. Stock up on eyeglasses with taped nose bridges, pocket protectors, polyester pants, plaid shorts, hair gel, bow ties and suspenders to use on your makeover victims. Take loads of photographs to share and commemorate their new look. Brainstorm some alter-nerd-ego names for each guest, then ask him or her to stay in character for the rest of the party.
