How do you fixed a stuck tub stopper?
My bathtub stopper won't move. Last time, I had to take a drain snake to remove a large hair clog. The stopper worked great after that. Now it's doing the same thing but I can't find the clog. Would a product like draino work? Should I invest in a sink drain snake and try to remove the clog? Could it be something else not working? Thanks
If your stopper works from a lever on the overflow plate, remove the screw in the over flow plate. At the back of the lever is a linkage, get hold of this linkage and pull straight up, you should find another linkage attached to the first one, just keep pulling straight up till you come to a barrel looking attachment at the bottom. Pull it completely out of the overflow, it is probably covered with hair. remove all the hair, and flush a good bit of water down the drain. Re-insert the stopper (you may need to oil the lever a little) and presto your stopper should work like new and your tub should drain better than ever.
Note: if it's hard to remove thats just because of the amount of hair on the stopper.If it happens to break you can by a complete replacement at lowes for about 8 or 9 dollars.
