Who is the best single-season men's college tennis team?
Stanford has the most championships since the current NCAA format started but I was wondering if anyone knew what team had the most impressive season in men's tennis? Basketball and Football often have rankings for best tennis etc, but I've never seen one for tennis.
The Illinois Fighting Illini of 2002-03 to 2003-04 come to mind. For the 2002-03 season, they finished the season a perfect 32-0. They won the ITA Indoor Championships. They weren't taken to the limit until the NCAA championship game against Vanderbilt. They also won the men's singles and doubles that year. Then they continued their winning streak until the Final Four in the 2004 NCAA tournament. They also defended their ITA title that year. Their 64-match winning streak still stands as the college record, I believe. Stanford, UCLA, Southern California, and Georgia stand out as the dominant teams in college tennis but I don't think any of them can top the season that Illinois had in 2002-03.
