In a low mass and high mass star, is the protostar the same temperature and absolute magnitude?
I have to graph the life cycle of a low, high and massive star.
I have to graph the cycle, the temperature of each stage and the brightness.
All 3 types of stars have some of the same stages, but i'm unsure that if since the massive star is bigger, then the (for example) the main sequence stage has a higher temperature than the medium mass, or if they belong on the same spot on the graph.
PLEASE help me??
Main sequence stars have both their luminosity and lifetimes dependent on mass
Luminosity = M^3.5
Lifetime = M^(- 2.5)
You'll have to look on the HR diagram to find the temperature of the main sequence stars based on luminosity. And yes the more massive main sequence stars have a higher temperature and a larger radius than less massive main sequence stars.
