How is the knife by genesis related to the Kent State shootings?
I have heard that "the Knife" by Genesis is written from a militant's point of view at the Kent state shootings. Can someone explain to me how it can be related to Kent state and if it can't, what the song is about?
According to this source, Peter Gabriel wrote the song to tell his view of violent revolutions, saying those who use violence in the name of freedom are often only interested in establishing their own dictatorship.
I don't see any correlation with the song and specifically, the Kent State shootings.
Some people might of thought that because the song was written in May, 1970 and the Kent State shootings happened in May, 1970.
